The racing industry is regulated by the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission and the Jamaican Racing Commission (JRC). The JRC was established under the Jamaica Racing Commission ACT 1972. Caymanas Track Ltd. (CTL) has exclusive responsibility for promoting horse racing and running offtrack and ontrack pari-mutuel pools on the island. Offtrack betting parlors are open six days a week, except for Sundays, and offer wagering on local races on Saturdays, most Wednesdays and public holidays. OTBs in Jamaica also offer simulcast racing from tracks in the United States, Australia and Britain. CTL currently has about 60 OTB parlors throughout the island.
